Palsatech opens the second exploration and mining service center in Sodankylä

18.5.2022

Palsatech will open the second mineral exploration and mining service center in Sodankylä, Finland. Over 3000 square meter facilities will be built on Kairajuntintie. The construction begins in May, and the facilities will be ready during November 2022.

The new service center offers a wide range of geoservices for early-stage exploration companies as well as mining companies. The CEO of Palsatech Oy, Mika Alasuutari, says that Sodankylä was a natural choice for the new PalsaCenter, as the area is relevant for the mining industry in Finland. In addition, it will ease assisting Kittilä-Sodankylä area ore prospectors. Also, other companies are building services for the mining industry on Kairajuntintie in the future.

”We got the building permit last Friday, which means the work begins now. PalsaCenter in Sodankylä will provide versatile services as we offer modern research and sample processing facilities, a showroom for our logging tables, our field department’s maintenance facilities, and drill core sample storage. The service center is also a step forward in digitalization: the technology of our scanning and measurement services are unique, and the concept withstands the international comparison” says Mika Alasuutari.

Successful service concept is scaled to Sodankylä

Palsatech Oy is a geoservice company founded in 2013. The company offers a unique and comprehensive service concept for the needs of mineral exploration, mining, and infrastructure construction. The mineral exploration and mining service center in Sodankylä will offer a wide range of services – all from one place – from planning to the sample storage.

”With the comprehensive services of our center, we can reduce our customers’ investment needs. In the past, companies used research resources for facilities, equipment, and the use of staff was inefficient. Our service concept has solved all those problems. We always strive to take the client’s perspective into account and our operations make the actual research more efficient with lower risks and investments” Alasuutari says.

Palsatech employs 65 people and has a turnover of approximately 6 M€. The choice of Sodankylä as the location for the new center is part of a long-term plan, which pilot phase was the establishment of the first service center in Kemi in 2016. Now the company is starting to scale up its successful concept in Kemi.

”The experiences we have gained from Kemi during the past six years have only been good. It’s also important that in addition to working in Nordic countries we now operate also in the Balkans, and we deliver our products all the way to Canada, Australia, and South Africa. We have been able to cooperate with big international mining companies, which has also increased our own quality requirements significantly” says Mika Alasuutari.
