Reference Story: First Quantum Minerals (FQM) – Private logging facility and technical assistance

First Quantum Minerals (FQM) is a long-time client for Palsatech in Finland. We have extensively assisted the company in fieldwork, and since June 2023, the company has also been working at our service center in Sodankylä, Finland.

FQM has reserved one of our logging rooms for their exclusive use, where they have been examining and processing their samples. We opened a new service hub, PalsaCenter Sodankylä, in early 2023, which means FQM has been working there almost since its opening.

We assist our client both indoors and outdoors. On the field, we handle the preparation of FQM’s drilling sites and create routes for the drill rigs. We transport FQM’s samples from the drill site to the logging facilities, where we assist in the technical aspects of the FQM’s research process. Our technicians place sample boxes on tables, perform various measurements, and handle technical processing, including the core cutting. Finally, we ensure the safe and cost-effective storing of the samples.

The collaboration with FQM is a prime example of how Palsatech’s comprehensive service package works at its best: mining and exploration companies get all the geological and technical services they need, all in one place.
